Vision Council update…

Dear HTS Community:

The first full week of school (late buses notwithstanding) was a successful one.  Students and teachers are back in the swing of things, fall sports are underway, academic clubs are meeting and we are gearing up for our Back to School Nights next week.

As was mentioned earlier this summer the Vision Council has been re-positioned as more of a site-based management group.  Meeting quarterly, the VC will address pertinent issues having an impact on the entire school community.  Parents are encouraged to attend and participate.

Our Vision Council parent chairs are Sandy Waxgiser, Brenda Myers, Mary Saltzman and Lisa Humphries.  Please join us on Wednesday, October 3 at 7:00pm for our first meeting.  We will be discussing the HTS Digital Learning Initiative (formerly 1:1 Initiative) and brainstorming ways to improve it.  Future meetings are:

December 5, 2012 8:30am

February 6, 2013 7:00pm

May 8, 2013 8:30am

Sincerely,

Alex Anemone

PS – If you have an idea for a future agenda, please send it to one of the parent co-chairs or administrators at HTS.

BOE Meeting…September 10th

Dear HTS Parents:

As part of the most recent re-districting, Harding Township is now in the 27th Legislative District.  One of our representatives in the State Assembly, Mila Jasey, will be joining us at our next Board of Education meeting, this Monday (9/10) at 7:30 in the Library/Media Center.  Asw. Jasey, is a former Board of Education member in South Orange-Maplewood (1999-2007) and will discuss the changing educational environment in New Jersey.  All parents are invited, and encouraged, to attend.   Middle school children are also encouraged to attend and learn about the democratic process, “up close and personal.”

Sincerely,

Alex Anemone
